Newlands is proudly a non-selective school. It caters for a wide ability range, and its setting policy, allied to the extra help available to those who need any specific help to maximise their potential, allows the school to offer appropriate education to the majority of children.

Entrance is by interview with the Headteacher and reports from the previous school.

Newlands School offers prospective students an opportunity to experience Newlands via our Taster Days. These highly valued days allow the pupil to get a feeling for the school and for the school to get to know the prospective pupil better. It also makes the moment of joining the school much less daunting for the pupil since they are already conversant with the routines and shape of the school day, as well as having already found friends within their peer group.

The Registrar and the Headmistress’s Personal Assistant are charged with organising matters to do with registration and arranging visits, interviews and Taster Days.
