Newlands is a proud to be a non-selective school that caters for a wide ability range. Entrance to the school is determined by interview with the Headmistress and any past school reports.
The Newlands admissions system then allows prospective pupils to come and have a Taster Day at the school. These Taster Days are an idea that is intended to be helpful for both Newland and the pupil.
The Taster sessions usually pan over two days where each child will be allocated a ‘buddy’ who will look after them and ensure they feel welcome and at ease. Newlands tends to invite prospective pupils to come and spend two days at the school in order to ensure that a wide range of activities and subjects are covered.
This part of the admissions process allows everyone to get a real feel for life at Newlands and allows the school to get to know the prospective pupil better. It also makes the moment of joining the school much less daunting for the pupil since they are already conversant with the routines and shape of the school day. This is also a fantastic opportunity to meet some new faces and find some friends before the first day.
There is no particular set time for these Taster Days, Newlands is very happy to welcome prospective pupils at anytime in the school year.
After a prospective family has attended an interview with the Headmistress, the Taster Days may be booked through the Headmistress’s personal assistant. This can be done by simply calling Lisa Sewell on 01323 490 000/+44(0)1323 490 000 or by emailing the registrar@newlands-school.com.
