Music at Newlands

The Music Department at Newlands is at the heart of the school. Accessibility, enthusiasm, fun and opportunities for participation are offered at all levels.
The emphasis is on inclusion, and pupils and students from across the age-groups are encouraged to take part in a wide range of performing and musical activities such as:

Prep Choir
Cantorum Ensemble (for senior girls)
Rock School and ‘Battle of the Bands’ event
Regular formal and informal concerts
Wind Band
Composers’ Forum

A professional staff of visiting teachers provides high-quality instrumental and singing tuition to nearly half the pupils aged 7 to 18. Many students are entered for external examinations and achieve success in local arts’ festivals.
