Out and About With Newlands Choir at Christmas
With preparations for their end-of-term Carol Service well in hand, the children from the Newlands Prep Choir were out and about during their last week of term.
On Tuesday the 2nd December, 30 children, aged from seven to twelve, sang to the residents of Cheneys Care Home. The choir sang some traditional favourites, interspersed with some more modern carols.
The choir offered the same programme of Christmas music at Sainsbury’s, Newhaven, on Wednesday the 3rd, singing in aid of the Searchlight Charity.
Shoppers took some well-earned time out to hear the children singing ‘Winds Through the Olive Trees’, ‘The Angels Sang the Story’, a delightful new arrangement of ‘Away in a Manger’ and ‘Kings Came Riding’.
Speaking after the carol service, Mrs Pendry, Newlands’ Director of Music, said “ I am really proud of the choir’s achievements this term. They are a delightful young group who make a lovely sound. Sharing our Christmas music is one of the things we most enjoy about this time of year”
