Almost 1000 children in India, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan will be vaccinated against poliomyelitis thanks to a group of pupils at Newlands School in Seaford.

The pupils were inspired to raise funds following a visit to the school by Dr Isla Sitwell and the former President of the Seaford District Rotary Club, John Owen.

By organising a non-uniform day for February 23rd - the Rotary Club Polio Awareness Day, pupils managed to raise a total of £195 which will fund the vaccination for 975 children.

During the same day, two representatives from the Prep School, Ruth Godfrey and Alfie Dyer joined the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex and the Mayor of Seaford at the official opening of the new Seaford Rotary Shop.
