Newlands Pant 2009
The magic spell was finally cast for this year’s Prep pantomime, ‘Cinderella’, and both pupils and staff were determined to make sure it went with a ‘bang’! Tabitha Coleman played the lovelorn Cinders opposite a charming Ryan Looker despite the vain attempts of ugly sisters, Ben Rogers and Alfie Dyer. There were excellent performances by Amy Steadman and Edward Bree as Baron and Baroness Hardup and their long-suffering servant Buttons played by Louie Smee and the audience were suitably distracted and mesmerized by the Fairy Godmother, Ruth Godfrey. All 73 pupils from years 3-8 supported the principals either in performance or technical support and some even took on new lines and roles in the final few days before performance, most notably Ollie Pinder. Mrs Dyer, Mrs Chilcott and all of the teachers involved were incredibly proud of the energy, commitment and enthusiasm that every pupil gave to this memorable show.
