World Record Attempt
Newlands School is one of three schools in Sussex selected to attempt a Guinness World Record for the largest interactive weather report. As part of this record attempt, teenagers from hundreds of schools across the UK took a temperature reading for their area at 9.15am on Thursday 11th March. A brisk 4 celsius was recorded by pupils at Newlands.
The data was sent to the weather centre at the BBC where it was used in a weather map for a special broadcast later that day. Each school that took part in the attempt had their own temperature disc on the map which showed the variation of temperatures across the country. We will find out later in the month if the attempt to set a new record is successful.
