Newlands Pre Prep offers a dynamic, progressive curriculum in a child-centered environment. The children enter at the age of four and slot in smoothly, coming across from our Nursery where they are already familiar with the Newlands environment. Introductory activities are offered to ease the integration process, which encourages interaction with siblings.
The children also have the opportunity to participate with the Prep and Manor pupils in assemblies and concerts.
Our classes are small with a teacher to pupil ratio of 1:8. In the early years we aim to build competence and nurture confidence with a structured and systematic curriculum from Reception to Year 2. The pastoral care and the teaching of all the core subjects are the responsibility of the form teacher. These include:

Our Support Centre is renowned for all the help it provides to those who need it the most. Our SEN department has the resources and skills to accelerate learning. Children are tested as early as possible as a preventative measure and Individual Educational Programmes are carefully structured. The SENCO liases with our department, parents and any outside professionals to ensure the best possible results.
The Pre Prep day begins at 8:30 and ends at 16:00, with the option of a creche facility available from 16:00 - 17:00. The Reception children may leave earlier at 15:30.
Our ethos is simple. We believe a happy child is a successful child and, therefore, this value is at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to make the transition from the Pre-Prep to the Prep as easy as possible by making the children increasingly independent. The Parents are an integral link in this process and have many opportunities to be involved. The style of teaching is traditional yet fun, as we aim for excellence and employ a multi-sensory approach in the classroom. Homework is set daily and includes Reading, Spelling and Numeracy. We provide many motivational incentives to bring out the best in our pupils. Positive reinforcement is a vital part of all we do as we celebrate their talents and efforts. Our staff are dedicated, hardworking and approachable, guiding the students to reach for the stars. We warmly invite any potentially new children to a taster day with a difference!
