Prep (8-13 years)

Newlands Prep School provides education for 8-13 year old boys and girls; they enter in Year 3 of the National Curriculum and leave in Year 8.

The curriculum is broad, balanced and seeks to promote the spiritual, cultural, mental and physical development of children. The friendly atmosphere at Newlands Prep School ensures that pupils settle in quickly and happily, allowing them to progress rapidly in a positive and cheerful environment.

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the South Coast, Newlands allows its pupils opportunities to enjoy growing up in a truly wonderful environment.

Whole school assemblies take place on three or four days a week, providing extra moral or spiritual content; weekly Form periods permit opportunities for pastoral discussion and House meetings are held after each “plus count” (the merit system), when a pupil's progress can be monitored.  Regular Inter-House challenges foster a healthy sense of competition between the four Houses and provide good opportunities for the different age groups to work together.

Whilst academic standards are high in the Prep School, a wide ranging curriculum ensures that all children who attend Newlands are well rounded, interesting young people.

Creativity in learning is a particular strength at Newlands and the artistic element of our curriculum has a renowned reputation.
